Promobot Digest (August, 8)

Read juicy details about how Promobot spent time at Park Live in Moscow, started to teach students robotics, and also why the top managers of the company took part in a worldwide campaign against robotic killers.

Promobot’s check-list for the last weekend: take a walk around Gorky Park, chat with Tricky, dance with Ivan Dorn – done

Last weekend, July 27-29, Moscow hosted the music festival Park Live 2018. Ivan Dorn, Sofi Tukker, David Guetta, Tricky, Kaleo, Gorillaz and many others world-class stars performed there.

Promobot joined the festival of music and dance. He talked with the visitors of the tent of the IIDF, interviewed Tricky, danced at his concert and concert of Ivan Dorn, he even was mentioned in the social network of the artist.

Now you can study robotics with the help of Promobot

Scientists of the Perm Polytechnic University together with the employees of Promobot have developed methodological manuals on data transmission in information-control systems. Here robot Promobot is used as a laboratory bench. On its basis, laboratory work on robot management, work with the operating system ROS, the development of software for remote access, work with face recognition and servo system. At the initial stage, five manuals have been created, which have already received the international educational classifier ISBN.

The list of development competencies is expanding. Further, students will consider how to work with speech recognition systems, the robot’s interactive system, how to connect additional devices and integrate the robot with external systems, and much more.

Last week, the robot already went to his first job at the Moscow College.

As a result of the work with the Promobot educational booth, future specialists receive an actual technical education, apply fundamental knowledge in the applied field, observing how their knowledge can be applied in life. Thanks to the Promobot, the student acquires real competence and becomes a sought-after specialist even while studying.

Promobot signed an appeal to the United Nations against the development of robotic killers

The campaign, organized by the Institute for the Future of Life, promises not to support robotic killers. More than 2,400 people from 160 companies from 90 countries signed an appeal to the UN against the development of robotic killers. Among them are Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the founders of Google DeepMind and XPrize, as well as the Russian company Promobot which is represented by Alexei Yuzhakov and Oleg Kivokurtsev. The next UN meeting on deadly autonomous weapons is scheduled for August 2018.

Elon Musk and thousands of technical experts spoke out against robotic killers, saying that “the decision to accept life should never be delegated to a machine”

“The problem is acute not only because of ethical considerations, but also because there is a real threat that AI can escape from the control of a person, and weapons become an uncontrolled tool that destabilizes the situation for each country and person,” says Oleg Kivokurtsev, development of Promobot.

By the way, this Friday we will have again Friday’s stream in the social network Vkontakte. Viewers will get acquainted with the main designer Promobot: they will learn what is industrial design, what the features of developing a robot are, how it works in Promobot and much more.
